The Coming China Bust

January 9, 2010

Will China go bust and into a prolonged economic slump? (Prediction logged January 8, 2010).

Some say yes, some say no. See the following article, that says China is in the midst of a huge credit bubble. (Click on this link: ChinaBust). The crash is coming, according to investor James S. Chanos, and the 8% per year growth rate is evidence the books are being cooked.

My opinion: yes, the books are being cooked, and the crash is coming. Just don’t know when. Let’s give it 1-2 years from now. If it’s longer than that, this is not really a valid prediction in my opinion (it’s just too many economic cycles away. Eventually, everything crashes!).

I am aware that if Chanos is betting against China, it’s in his interest to get others on the bandwagon!
